Tom Mole ASGFA
- SC8 hand
Biography
Tom has worked for several years as a portrait painter in London after completing his MA in Fine Art Painting and a BA (Hons) in Illustration & Graphic Design.
More recently, Tom’s work has become more generally figurative, showing particular interest in aesthetic form and feature. His paintings demonstrate the balance between the depiction of the subject and how the application of the paint achieves this most effectively. Colour, scale and context are approached with increasing vigour and sensitivity, but many themes, such as emotional intimacy, remain inherent in the work.
Tom has a strong drawing element to his practice. His accurate and detailed drawings of archaeological objects, items from museum collections, personal items, and figures are a way of isolating and reframing the chosen subject. The drawing becomes an act of collection, consideration, thought and love, both in its production and its completed state.
Tom regularly exhibits in London and elsewhere in the UK, and has work in private collections in the UK and abroad.
