Surrey-based artist and illustrator Nicola Howell Hawley originally graduated with a degree in Fine Art from the university of Reading. After a circular route through book editing, teaching and illustrating, she finally came back to fine art, and is now developing her work with new studies of nature and wildlife – particular passions of hers. She largely uses oak gall ink with a dip pen and graphite pencil to produce detailed artwork that blends traditional and contemporary elements.

She is an Associate Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, and has illustrated a number of books through her illustration business Howell Illustration.
