I was born on the west coast of Scotland.

A graduate of Glasgow School of Art I studied printed textile design under the late Bob Stewart.

I honed my skills in several areas of art, and the handling of several media by working as a textile colourist also illustrating greeting cards and children’s books. Part-time teaching art to adults then kindled a desire to make and exhibit my own drawings and paintings. Fortunately that proved successful and I have been a professional artist for the last 30 years.

Leaving London 6 years ago, my creative arena is now the exquisite beauty of the Scottish Borders countryside where I now live. My practice is rooted in nature, my preoccupation is the importance of the fragile ecosystems on which we are reliant.

My subjects are drawn from the untouched wild places, places where nature is ignored, often verges, field edges and hedgerow.

While out walking I keep a sketch book at my side taking notes and sketching, sometimes just scribbles, but invaluable material later in the studio as drawing is at the core of all my work.

I vary my practice; on paper I work in charcoal or ink washes and watercolour. I experiment with print, making small dry-point etchings or linocuts and I paint in oils on canvas.

My work has been regularly selected for several national open exhibitions, including the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Botanical Artists, the Society of Women Artists and recently the SGFA.

I currently exhibit in selected galleries in the Borders, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London and have had several successful solo exhibitions in London and here in Scotland, with more planned.
