Sally Beaumont SGFA

Biography

I trained at Middlesex University in Fine Art and The Slade School in Printmaking followed by studios in Wapping and Clerkenwell.

My work includes highly decorative and technical etchings and aquatints; photo litho prints using collage and old family photographs; paintings in oil on canvas.
My work has been described as decorative and chaotic often humorous.

My studio resembles a London Print Shop of the 1770s -1830s when popular prints were at their peak. Walls are lined with hundreds of etchings and lithographs. Like the tabloid newspapers of the day they deal with perennial subject matter – politics and patriotism; religion and royalty; sex and gossip; the strange and exotic.

Recent work has been influenced by W.W.1 photos taken by my grandfather working in the A.V.C. in Mesopotamia.

I have exhibited mainly in Lancashire, Lincolnshire, London and Yorkshire where I have supported my art career as a teacher/lecturer.

Recent ( 2019) mixed shows include –
The Collective, Soho; Printmakers Council travelling Shows; Leicester Print Fair; Ropewalk Print Open and studio members shows.
