Mick Davies Hon RBSA, President RBA, Hon SGFA

Biography

Born 1947 in South Wales, Mick has lived and worked in London since the 1960s.

He attended Hornsey College of Art in 1966 and Camberwell College of Art in 1992, where he received a distinction award for a Master of Arts in Printmaking.

Mick’s work has appeared in all the major art exhibitions in the UK, including many times in the Royal Academy Summer Show. His work has also been shown in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, South Africa, Japan and South Korea. He has received numerous prizes and awards and was invited by The All England Lawn Tennis Club to be ‘Wimbledon Championship Artist 2008’ and his work remains in their museum and clubhouse. Mick also has work in The National Museum of Wales and The National Football Museum in Manchester, as well as being held in public and private collections all over the world.

Many of his works tell a story and are expressions of exuberance and a shared experience of joy coupled with humour and excitement. Other works, although humorous, have a political slant, which is not always obvious to the viewer.

In 2009 he was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists and became the Vice President in 2014. Mick was elected President of the Society in 2019 and his 5-year tenure will end in June 2024. Since 2020 he has been a Governor-Trustee of the Federation of British Artists based at the Mall Galleries in Central London.
