Biography

Elizabeth trained as a product designer, but returned to what she loves, drawing and painting. Her design education did instil in her the importance of accurate drawing, every work of art created by Elizabeth has a strong and accurate drawing at its foundation. Since Graduation attended courses in printmaking to extend her mark making skills.

Elizabeth has been elected Associate Member of the Society of Women Artists and now an Associate of the SGFA.

She exhibits regularly with Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Pastel Society, Royal Society of British Artists, Society of Women Artists, and many other exhibitions through the UK, including the Trinity Buoy Drawing Prize and Sunday Times Watercolour Competitions, which have both travelled throughout the UK.

Elizabeth loves painting the ordinary in life whether it is people shopping, a pile of rubbish or a poster plastered on a shop front. The urban environment inspires her, she is fascinated by people, what are they thinking? How are they feeling? By painting portraits people going about their business, she celebrates that snapshot of time, making the viewer stop to think about how the small things in life can be interesting. Markets are another interesting place they have been around for centuries, sometimes in the same place, the customer and sellers do not change, everybody needs to buy things, only what they buy and how they dress changes. Psychogeography, history repeats itself; every inch of London has been inhabited by many people over hundreds of years, how does that reflect on the place now? Elizabeth like to think of herself as a modern-day William Hogarth observing her world and painting it.
