Biography

A trip to Kew Gardens in 1995 inspired an interest in botanical art. My love of the countryside and an eye for the quirky side of plants inspires me to paint subjects from nature that I love.

I have been a Fellow member of the Society of Botanical Artists since 2004 and won the Great Art Award in 2014.

As a Contemporary Botanical artist and illustrator of subjects from nature I work as much as possible from life. My work is continually evolving with my current work focusing on movement and composition within the picture space. I have a passion for the detail I can create using coloured pencils and graphite. I am also drawn to experimenting with a variety of media in the same picture space often combining coloured pencil, water colour and acrylic ink. My work often has a playful element in it.

My other love is creating handmade individual artists books. These beautiful, one off pieces have a nature or Botanical theme and contain original artwork.

I have exhibited in many locations and have sold work both at home and abroad including among others the USA, Europe and China.
